Why Join the Guild?

The Wine Guild is a non-profit making organisation having no commercial interest in the wines presented at its functions. The Guild's Master of Wine (Maggie McNee) and cellar master (Mike Hildesley), are adept at finding enjoyable and unusual examples.

As with all guilds the reason for joining is primarily to meet like-minded individuals and in this case, with an interest in wine. Membership is offered to a limited number of individuals who have an interest in furthering the Guild's objectives;
  1. to enjoy this interest in prestigious locations which might not be available to us as individuals
  2. to have the opportunity to broaden our knowledge and understanding of wines through tours, tastings and other events
  3. to benefit from the associations of the Guild with The Sloane Club, the FICB and the network of contacts both within the Guild and, most importantly for members, within the international wine fraternity. For full details of the FICB and its membership visit www.museeduvinparis.com
  4. to obtain information on quality wines that are good value remembering that no-one is under pressure to buy wines through the Guild.
Membership may either be individual or joint, and is subject to sponsorship by an existing member. If you are interested please contact us.

Joining the Wine Guild

People with a strong interest in wine coming from various backgrounds, join the Guild to extend their knowledge of wine, to widen their contacts and to broaden their knowledge both at the international level and of the developing English and Welsh wine industry.

The Guild welcomes new members who wish to get involved and to help. They will be proposed and seconded by a member. In the event that anyone interested in joining the Guild does not have a proposer and seconder they should contact the Guild Secretary (contact us). They will then be contacted by a member of the membership committee. On approval, new members are intronised (introduced) into the Guild at a ceremony that takes place twice a year prior to our principal events. In addition, by belonging to the Guild, members are entitled to preferential membership rates at the Sloane Club which has reciprocal arrangements around the world – (see below or visit www.sloaneclub.co.uk)
